About Vallarta Breeze Yoga & Casa Vallarta Breeze
One of the most common questions people ask is:
“What is the difference between Vallarta Breeze Yoga, Casa Vallarta Breeze, and Jai?”
The answer is actually quite simple.
Jai (Japheth Salsbery) is an independent wellness practitioner.
Casa Vallarta Breeze is the home and private practice space where much of his work takes place.
Vallarta Breeze Yoga was the yoga-focused practice and community that Jai and his husband, Victor Manuel, founded in Puerto Vallarta in 2018.
While the names have evolved over time, they are all chapters of the same story.
The Beginning of Vallarta Breeze Yoga
Vallarta Breeze Yoga began in 2018 in the Cinco de Diciembre neighborhood of Puerto Vallarta.
Founded by Jai and Victor Manuel, the vision was never to build a large commercial yoga studio with a rotating cast of instructors. Instead, they wanted to create something much more personal: a boutique yoga community where students would be known by name and receive individualized attention.
The early days were humble. Some classes had only a few students and occasionally no students at all.
Slowly, the community grew.
By early 2020, Vallarta Breeze Yoga had developed a loyal following of local residents, seasonal visitors, and virtual students. Jai and Victor Manuel were teaching multiple classes each day, including group classes, private sessions, and online offerings.
Over the years, Jai would go on to teach more than 4,000 yoga classes.
The Pandemic and the Virtual Era
The COVID-19 pandemic brought the momentum of the physical studio to a sudden halt.
Like many wellness professionals, Jai and Victor Manuel shifted entirely to online teaching. What initially seemed like a temporary adjustment became an opportunity to rethink what a wellness space could be.
The experience reinforced something Jai had long believed:
People thrive when they have space.
Fresh air.
Natural light.
Room to move.
Connection to nature.
Rather than rushing to reopen the original studio, they began envisioning something entirely new.
Building Casa Vallarta Breeze
In 2024, that vision became reality.
Jai and Victor Manuel opened Casa Vallarta Breeze, their home and purpose-built wellness space in the El Caloso neighborhood of Puerto Vallarta.
Perched on a mountainside above the city and accessible by a stairway through the jungle, Casa Vallarta Breeze was intentionally designed to feel different from a traditional fitness facility or enclosed yoga studio.
The space features open-air practice areas, abundant tropical plants, mountain views, birdsong, natural airflow, and a peaceful atmosphere that encourages presence and relaxation.
The environment reflects the values that have always guided Vallarta Breeze Yoga: connection, simplicity, nature, and personal attention.
Many long-time students still refer to the location as Vallarta Breeze Yoga, and that history remains an important part of its identity.
More Than Yoga
As the years passed, Jai’s professional focus expanded beyond yoga alone.
Through continued education in personal training, corrective exercise, nutrition coaching, and wellness coaching, he developed a broader approach to helping clients improve their health and quality of life.
While yoga remains an important part of his work, clients increasingly began seeking support with:
- Strength and fitness
- Healthy aging
- Mobility and movement
- Body composition goals
- Nutrition habits
- Accountability and lifestyle change
- Overall wellness
At a certain point, it became clear that the name Vallarta Breeze Yoga no longer fully described the work being done.
The practice had evolved.
The mission had expanded.
The focus had become broader than yoga alone.
Today
Today, Jai operates as an independent wellness practitioner.
His services include:
- Personal Training
- Group Yoga Classes
- Private Yoga Instruction
- Nutrition Coaching
- Fitness Coaching
- Wellness Coaching
- Yoga Teacher Training
Most services take place at Casa Vallarta Breeze, while some coaching services are offered remotely.
Yoga remains a meaningful part of the practice, but it now exists alongside many other tools used to help people become healthier, stronger, and more capable versions of themselves.
So, What Happened to Vallarta Breeze Yoga?
The simplest answer is:
Nothing happened to it. It evolved.
Vallarta Breeze Yoga was never just a business name.
It was a community, a philosophy, and the foundation upon which everything that exists today was built.
The yoga classes continue.
The friendships continue.
The spirit of the community continues.
What changed is that Jai’s work expanded beyond yoga into a more comprehensive approach to health and wellness.
A Continuing Story
The Vallarta Breeze Yoga website remains online as a resource and archive containing years of articles on yoga philosophy, anatomy, pranayama, meditation, postures, and teacher training.
It serves as a reminder of where the journey began.
Meanwhile, Casa Vallarta Breeze continues to grow as both a home and a wellness sanctuary, and Jai’s work continues to evolve as he helps clients pursue health, strength, mobility, confidence, longevity, and total wellness.
The names may have changed over time.
The mission has not:
Helping people live healthier, stronger, and more meaningful lives.
